the Opera de Nice

After taking the lift back down the hill with her and herself, we thought we would spend the day being a bit more cultured.  The girls decided to go to the Theatre de la Photographie et l'Image but we thought we'd prefer the opera.  That was until we saw these two great hulking brutes walking threateningly towards us.  We took refuge up a tree, until her and herself could come along and rescue us!

the easy way up the Colline du Chateau

Olaf and I had much more sense and hitched a ride with Noddy and Dobbin with their trusty wagon.  We arrived at the top refreshed and ready for action!!

the top of the hill

Her and herself had read on Tripadvisor that the No.1 thing to do was the Colline du Chateau.  Her and herself thought that they would have a leisurely stroll up through the gardens looking at the views on the way.  This is a view from the top that we took as her and herself did not realise that there were hundreds (literally) of steps up from the promenade....

the exit

shortly after we took this photo, the custodians politely requested that we may wish to vacate the Mamac in a prompt and orderly fashion.  It seems that all 3 floors and the terraces have cctv and our 'interaction' with the exhibits and art pieces were not appreciated by the artists (several of which were long dead and turning in their graves). Leaving her and herself to view further pieces, we left and said that we would meet them at the geletino some time later.

some afternoon jazz after being inspired at the Hotel Negresco

Anything they can do, we can do better.  Despite trying each and every one of brass instruments, not one of them worked.  The brass-neck of it all, did they not appreciate the effort we had put in trying to entertain her and herself....

some more interaction with the art

once again, the tempation to climb the exhibits proved too tempting to resist.  Luckily there were no custodians of the arts hanging around the gallery keeping an eye on the pieces.....

Musee d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain

or to those in the know, the Mamac.  Olaf and I saw this on the roof terrace and decided that the view may be better from the top....

a snack and siesta before the afternoon activities

Oskar and I quickly popped into Monoprix (leaving her and herself outside, as otherwise we would have been there for hours!!!!) for some mid-day snacks.  We also thought it would be a good opportunity to blog the mornings events before strolling out again for the evening.

a bit of jazz at the Hotel Negresco

Olaf and I decided to take a walk down the Promenade de Anglais for a bit of culture.  We happened across this cheerful fellow, who attempted to serenade us with some jazz.

window shopping....

....but not for blinds!!  Her and herself seemed to have taken a fancy to this shop.  Luckily we persuaded them goodies would not do well in the heat and hurried them on their way.

some time hanging around

Once again we seemed to be spending unnecessary time hanging around whilst her and herself were window-shopping....

a silent sigh of thanks that we were left behind

Herself took this photo and told us how beautiful the port was with the lighting.  It just looks scary to us.  We are now thinking that perhaps Her and Herself were lying to us when they said the hotel was once a convent - we are now thinking they may have meant COVEN!

a chance for a sneaky snooze

Whilst Her and Herself were dining out, Oskar and I decided we should have a couple of hours shut-eye if possible.  You can see from this photo just how wide the room isn't!!!  Foolishly Her and Herself left the key with us..... if only we were tall enough to reach the lock!!!

a few days on the Cote d'Azur

Bonsoir mon amies.  Aujourd-hui, nous voyager a Nice.  We're going to have to stop talking French now as Herself has nicked the phrase book!!

Her and herself have found a very 'traditional' bijou hotel in the old town of Nice.  So bijou it is no more that 8ft by 10ft!  There is no room for us in the bed, so it looks like we have been allocated the table to sleep on - and there's not enough room on that either!

In order that we do end up gaining any additional weight, her and herself left us on our own and went out to dinner.  We believe they may have taken the scenic route as they were gone for some time.  They did not even bring us back the usual staples of coke, pringles and M&Ms - claiming that the supermarche's were already closed!

a difference of opinion

Olaf and I had a very restless night and awoke looking as if we had been fighting in bed.  Olaf was particularly grumpy as he was not looking forward to going back to the UK and cold weather, even though he had not managed to get a tan!

As we got up to start the day, Olaf was looking particularly furtive and was casting glances towards the safe, where themselves kept the money and passports.

I laughed to myself, as themselves were considerably larger than us and there was no way themselves would let Olaf look after either the money or the passports.  Themselves knew the combination, which they had cleverly managed to hide from us throughout our time in the hotel.

Suddenly themselves were not laughing, for Olaf had a gun and was pointing it straight at them!  In mortal danger, themselves were unsure as to what to do.....

Unbeknownst to themselves, my day job in the UK is as an undercover cop.  I overpowered Olaf, cuffed him, showed him my badge and then radioed for assistance.

The question is, will Olaf be arrested, charged and released in time for the flight home????????

the better part of town

As you can tell from the photographs below, themselves decided that they would go further afield for shopping today.

There were lots of gentlmens clubs along the route, but strangely no ladies clubs.  Themselves did not see fit to explain why to us!

Though themselves needed fuel, they did not stop here.   We were relieved, for there were lots of bags in the 'trunk' and we feared that themselves may have to pawn us to pay for the fuel!

Oskar was most relieved that themselves did not stop at this shop for some wares!

The number of bags indicated that a stop here may have been needed though!!!

But as the above photo proves, we're made of tough stuff and did not worry about the todays venture into the unknown!

We ended the day at Tony Roma's for a spot of dinner, then back to the hotel to relax for the evening and watch The Weather Channel whilst themselves sorted their shopping (though Little House on the Prairie has been popular, along with NCIS and Criminal Minds).

some Islands of Adventure - apparently!

Oskar & I decided that we would check out the height restrictions before entering the park.  It wasn't looking good, but themselves insisted that we would enjoy the day!!

It was true - we found plenty of unusual things to climb up and view the surrounding areas - a very odd land it was too

We discovered a simply marvellous sweetie shop - we tried to sneak upstairs and away from themselves but Olaf and I were too excited to be discreet and got caught before we could make good our getaway!

Olaf and I were having a great time - though themselves, at this time, were not.  They had been on a water-rapid ride and were very, very wet!  Tehehe

Themselves then took us somewhere somewhat more sinister.  Olaf was very scared and hid behind my back.  Something about wizards and the sort had him frightened....

Because of Olafs' cowardice, neither of us were allowed on the new Harry Potter ride - grrrr  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUpuXFiuSSo

Trying to show off his muscles later did not make me forget about the quivering wreck that he had been before!!!!

We are left wondering, what are themselves off to do next - and will they inflict the same fate on us???

a delayed blog from yesterday

Olaf and I must apologise for the delay in posting this blog .... themselves decided to spend the day at SeaWorld.  Our friend, Shamu, was very pleased to see us!

We took in all the sights, including the tropical fish and corals

And the stingrays, where we opted NOT to don our wetsuits for a swim with them!  They looked a tad hungry and we are currently unsure as to what their diet consists of.....

We had to hang around for a while as themselves decided to go on Manta (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BolCQDIqCFM&feature=related), a new ride which our vertically challenged selves could not enjoy

Luckily for all concerned, Clyde & Seamore show more than made up for our missing out on the ride, and that this attraction certainly was not so discriminatory towards those of shorter stature!

a day with the relatives

The Weather Channel had informed Themselves that today would be hot and sunny, so they decided to spend the best part of the day at Aquatica playing on the water rides.  They had offered to take us too, but we declined as it always gives us Bad Hair Days.

Oskar and I decided that we would take this opportunity to see if we could track down some long-lost relatives.  These guys seemed happy enough to see us :o)

And this BIG guy was so happy he hugged us.  Nearly to death.   For a long time.

Amazed that we did not know where we are, he told us to keep looking for signs.... so the quest continues.....
