Boys are so pleased they get to visit Six Flags

Well themselves said they were going to Six Flags in Jackson New Jersey so we snuck into herself's rucksack only to be discovered during the routine bag search and being consigned to a locker for the day.  That said when we saw some of the rides

And some of the visitors we were rather relieved

Boys love Rocky

Oskar's favourite film is Rocky so he was very excited by visiting those steps that Rocky ran although he was a little reluctant to climb them himself ..

Having secured our wheels we joined the rest of the tourists on the steps

And our action shot

Before running (and by that I mean being carried by themselves) down the steps to meet Rocky in the flesh (well he is a bronzed Adonis)

Boys feel Philly

It is called the city of brotherly love and Oskar and I totally get it ... Philly has a great vibe and the people are so darn nice helping out a puppet with a photo opportunity or two ...

Boys can't believe how long it takes themselves to find ...

Having left Arlington the trusted TomTom told us the Lincoln memorial was just one mile away so Olaf and I were very taken aback when  90 minutes later we reached our destination

We had to take this selfie to prove we did make it!

We also made it to the Washington monument ...

Capitol Hill ...

The White House ...  well a few blocks back anyway

And Union station

Before picking up a duck ...

It seemed a safer mode of transport than those Washington taxis and a faster option than travelling with themselves at less than a mile an hour

Boys apologise for lack of posts

We know it has been a while but her and herself having been hogging the wifi meaning we haven't been able to blog.  We will try to bring you up to speed but a lot has happened - like about four states in one day - Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and West Virginia

Bearing in mind herself's ability to navigate we might have been through some of them more than once!

After having fun in Pittsburg themselves headed for Washington DC taking in another cemetery Arlington - sadly themselves felt a puppet may seem out of place or may be too loud for such a solemn occasion, we were not best pleased but when we heard a soldier shout at a women we felt that maybe it was for the best!!

But at least themselves behaved and were not asked to leave so they were able to take a picture or two

Pittsburg and Memorials

After themselves drove around Mount Washington, Pittsburg, trying to find the views, they eventually gave up and went to the hotel.   Oskar & I are not convinced it wasn't the actual Priory (we believe that themselves need rehab and the classical music at breakfast definitely isn't their usual style!) but it was very lovely. The morning was a success; Mt Washington summit conquered. Maybe because themselves decided not to drive....

The funicular didn't seem to have any problems finding the top!

And the views were most impressive!

Alas we had to leave Pittsburg behind and move on. The United 93 Memorial was the destination.

After themselves spent some time at the memorial paying their respects, we all hit the road once more. Our chauffeur had a 'bucket list' wish to drive the Lincoln Highway and luckily part of this was on our way so she was a very happy. The navigator was quite taken with this route too!

Historical US highways are the best!!!!!!

Tonight's stop is in the historical town of Frederick. We've no idea why it's historic and neither do themselves. From what we can establish its to do with the Civil War. (Note to ourselves, buy themselves a book on American history). That aside, a very pretty town!

Pretty route to Pittsburg

After leaving Cleveland, a scenic route was the order of the day. So out into the burbs and onwards we went. It proved to be a very good plan!

However Olaf was a little too excited and got a tad carried away in the back of the car!!!!

Themselves did not seem too impressed and decided that a cold shower would soon set him right. However as we had already left the hotel, themselves decided to improvise!

Cuyahoga Falls was the nearest available source they could find. Luckily for us puppets the day was both hot and somewhat windy so we dried in no time.  After this interlude themselves continued on their scenic drive, past the Tappan Lake towards Pittsburg. We remained quite (and apart) for fear of a repeat of the impromptu shower and the nearness of a water source that themselves seemed to be folllowing!

Lakeview Cemetery, Cleveland

However themselves like a good cemetery. They found a very pleasant one on the outskirts of Cleveland, which had a very nice vibe and even some live jazz. Dead people aside, it had more life than the city...

Live jazz in front of the James Garfield Monument

But we're not sure who coffin number 2 was for.....

But now we know where all the Pokemon are safely hidden!!!!!!

Best thing about Cleveland

Is the road out. This city is not as ugly as Gary but other than that.....actually not exactly true. We had good tacos in Cleveland. We can recommend Barrios Tacos (they do a darned good frozen margaritas too!). Here's a picture of us escaping....

It 'shore' is glorious by Lake Erie

The next day dawned sunny and warm (Oskar and I was slightly pleased by the inclement weather of the previous day, where rain had interfered somewhat with extreme rides). Themselves obviously felt guilty and on the drive to Cleveland they decided to let us have some time at the beaches.

East Beach, Lorain, Ohio

Huntingdon Beach (Cleveland in the background)

Themselves abandon us again

After driving from Lake Michigan, we found ourselves on another Great Lake, Lake Erie. But rather than take us to see the sights, themselves decided to visit Cedar Point Theme Park without us.  They showed us some photos though.

The Gatekeeper ride. For obvious reasons...

The Raptor....

And told us that the reason that we couldn't go into the park is because this chap is "The Puppet Catcher" and would have carted us both off into the darkness, never to be seen again. However Olaf and I believe that this was merely a fib and that they simply did not want to pay the extra admission fee for us!

Indiana, Michigan and beyond...

Having had a fabulous few days in the Windy City, it was time to move on. So, onwards into Gary, Indiana. Whilst on the shores of Lake Michigan, this city proved to be very industrial but not that easy on our eyes. Oskar and I decided that it would be best to keep moving forward and into Michagan state we passed.  This was much more pleasing and we stopped to take some photos of a couple of the smaller towns we passed through.

Kalamazoo River, Saugutuk

And we found "The Enforcer" of Saugatuk. To be completely honest, he was very pleasant and even said a cheery "hello". Themselves can be far scarier....

and just down the road, themselves found themselves in Holland. Weird!

They even found a windmill!

and a steel band........

And some great guys, raising the American Flag!

Perfect for puppets.....

Chicago was amazing; great sights; great weather; great shopping and amazing food.....even the chocolate bars were the perfect size for puppets!

Boys treat themselves

Having scaled the Hancock and the Willis towers Oskar thought it was time for a treat - I was thinking a nice relaxing time by the pool but Oskar had other ideas

He started with Sprinkles - German chocolate  for him and a banana peanut butter for me

 Followed by Ghiradelli sundae

Although the lady in the background seemed pretty impressed with our choice

Boys post pictures of Chicago

Well we have been a little lax on posting our pictures and Oskar felt that you might like to share some of the sites we have seen so here are some of the skyline, a sunset and a boy or two

Oh and a coffee bean
